CASE STUDY: ChemGrout CG570 – Arncliffe Station Tube Grouting

Arncliffe Station Upgrade: Canopy Tube Grouting with the ChemGrout CG570

Project Background

To improve pedestrian access in Arncliffe, NSW, the government initiated a major infrastructure upgrade. The project included construction of a pedestrian tunnel under the live railway line. Temporary structural support was required for the rail line to maintain ground stability while tunnelling operations occurred underneath. To achieve this, the project required canopy tube installation and grout injected into the annulus of steel casings.

CGS Equipment’s Solution: ChemGrout CG570

The ChemGrout CG570DHES was selected for its efficiency, reliability, and capability to handle the project’s unique demands. The machine pumped grout over 30 metres to the western side of the site, continuously over several days.

The BluCem HS400—a thixotropic, one-component cementitious powder—was the grout of choice. Mixed with just 4.5L of water per 15kg bag, it forms a high-strength, pumpable material ideal for top-down grouting. Its thixotropic properties resist gravitational flow, making it suitable for overhead and tunnel grouting applications.

Equipment Performance Highlights

  • High Output Efficiency: The CG570 mixes and pumps up to 1.8 cubic metres per hour through a 1” grout hoses.

  • Precision Pumping: A size 6 progressive cavity pump ensures non-pulsating, controlled delivery.

  • Optimal Grout Yield: The mix ratio of 0.4:1 delivers 11 litres of usable grout per bag.

  • Robust Performance: Perfect for high-volume grouting across long distances.

  • Compact & Mobile: Well-suited to tight access zones such as rail embankments.

  • Consistent Output: Provides a steady grout flow, reducing voids and ensuring structural integrity.
